Getting out of your own way is the key to any healing. Our minds and our hearts and our gut instincts can overlap and clash. It can be very confusing living in the 21st Century.
There isn’t enough quiet time and no-one is going to give it to us, so it’s necessary to just take it for ourselves.
Sitting quietly can be a life-saver, quite literally. You might feel you should do something, when, in reality, it might be something that you could do, instead. Getting our of your own way will make things clearer.
There will be reasons you don’t want to / haven’t got around to / are resisting that thing and they are very likely to be perfectly valid ones at that. It’s just a question of processing, allowing the layers to peel back, listening to ourselves, underneath all the clutter of our minds and hearts, down to what is inside, what matters, what guides us. And trusting it.
This takes time. I’ve had years of practice and I still do the polite thing instead of the right thing for me more often than I could. There are so many expectations upon us, that it seems impossible not to occasionally and, for the little things, it doesn’t always matter – they just won’t sit right.
Yet it is this practising going with your inner guidance on the little things, which will give you the trust to go with them on the bigger ones.
When have you gone with your gut instincts and it’s been proven the right thing to do?
